The Crowned Heads La Imperiosa Corona Gorda

Cigar Review – @TheCrownedHeads La Imperiosa Corona Gorda

I stopped in @HeightsCigar Lounge for a smoke break from #Christmas shopping and turned to the Crowned Heads for some relief. Like a delicious chocolate bar, the La Imperiosa Corona Gorda is a sight to behold. The blend of 100% Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos, finished with a dark and imposing Ecuador Habano Oscuro wrapper with a wonderfully oily sheen, is identical to the Las Calaveras EL 2014 blend.

There are no prominent veins or obvious soft spots. Construction is nearly flawless all the way down to the well made triple cap. Aromas off the wrapper and foot are barnyard, leather, mint, and pepper, all with a sweetness reminiscent of dulce de leche that elevates all the notes.

A straight cut to remove the tip, and lighting produce a toasty and creamy meatiness, with earth, citrus, bread and the underlying sweetness. The burn line remains fairly sharp, with a bit of wandering. The draw is fine, but a bit tight. Flavor and body are both medium-full.

Overall, a great cigar. Excellently balanced and blended. The complex blend of flavors and notes are impressive. A wonderfully tasty smoke that is perfect as a post-dinner cigar. I rate it at 92.
