I stopped in to visit the good folks at the Galleria location of @SeriousCigars, hoping to find the new “Tabernacle” from @NickRAgua and his @FoundationCigars, but they hadn’t come in yet, so I settled into a confortable leather chair in the cozy lounge to enjoy an El Güegüense Corona Gorda instead.
The El Güegüense Corona Gorda is beuatifully rolled Nicaraguan puro, with a dark Rosado wrapper that is silky smooth and wonderfully oily. Very well packed with a bit of give. Aroma from the wrapper is a combination of strong espresso, cinnamon, nuts, leather.
The cold draw releases flavors of spice, cocoa, earth, cedar, baking spices and a smooth creaminess. With some notes of wood, pepper and leather flavors, the cigar starts off with a great bouquet of complexity. There is a note of what I could only describe as dulce de leche, along with notes of earth, roasted nuts, cocoa, whiskey and grassy barnyard.
The draw remained excellent throughout, even with a couple of needed touch-ups. The El Güegüense offers lots of complexity and is beautifully balanced, with a flavorful finish. Strength remains medium/full throughout.
Overall, a great smoke. A fantastic blend of complexity, expertly balanced and executed. Nicholas Melillo is an artist with talent that could easily – given time – be the equal of the greats. I would rate the cigar a 92.
