While my wife did some shopping in the shops of Rice Village, I stopped in @BriarShoppeCigars to visit with the friendly staff and to relax while waiting. I eventually settled on a few different cigars, and picked the @Eiroa_Cigars Classic Robusto, by @ChristianEiroa of @CLEcigars, from the renowned Tabacaleras Unidas factory to enjoy during my stay in the shop.
This is a beautiful cigar. A classically understated red, gold, and black colored band accents the lightly veined, toothy, oily wrapper of this medium to full-bodied Honduran puro, which is topped with a perfect triple cap. The foot and wrapper of the cigar give off notes of sweetness, baking spice and nuts – very enticing. The cold draw offers a distinct woodiness, some leather and a pleasant tobacco.
After first lighting, the Eiroa offers up notes of chocolate, leather and pepper, accented with a salted-caramel sweetness. A citrus note is joined by a bit of cedar and nuts. The finish is good as well, with flavors of cocoa, coffee, and cream creating a luscious bouquet of aromas and flavors. The draw and burn line throughout were fantastic. No touch-ups were necessary on this slow-burning stogie, and the ash held on tightly until removed.
Overall, a very good smoke. With a flavor profile that progresses through a wide range of interesting and complex flavor notes, it offers a smoke that satisfies, but doesn’t overwhelm. I would rate the cigar an 89.
